We had a great Memorial Day weekend. All weekend long, Ainsley was all smiles, and it seemed she was
just on the edge of letting out a good laugh. She's also sooooooo close it seems to really reaching out and grabbing
things. She's swatting with open hands, and even occasionally grabs hold. It feels like we're close to a major
breakthrough, I hope I'm right!!
We spent Memorial Day visiting with Ainsley's Great Grandma Graeser. Grandma had a lot of fun spending
time with our smiley little girl. She even showed off her ability to eat and eat by downing a jar and a half of food
while we were there! We forgot to bring the digital camera, so it will be a little while before we get the pictures
back from the disposable. Will post a picture when they are back!

Ainsley's first airplane ride was this week!! She did an amazing job on a very long flight out to visit Heidi and
Kevin in the SF Bay Area, CA. On the first leg of the flight out she seemed to take quite an interest in staring at
a 10-month-old boy who was also on our flight. Watch out, Eric, she's getting boy crazy already! We all had a
great time visiting with Heidi and Kevin, and Ainsley was quite comfortable hanging out in the Baby Bjorn during our visit
to the wine country. :)
With regard to motor skills, Ainsley has really started to blossom in the past couple of weeks! She's now smiling
a lot, and not just at dad, but at me, too! She's also really started to take an interest in her hands and is swinging
at toys with confidence both when laying under her gym or sitting in her car seat or bouncy seat. She's figured out
this fun trick where she's staring at one hand and trying to hit it with another. Quite fun to watch, and the fact
that she's making good contact hitting objects or even her other hand, using hand-eye coordination, is such a wonderful thing
to see, knowing the injury was in the area of her brain controlling coordination and balance.
On the mom front, this week (and especially the 4-day trip with Ainsley and Eric) was exactly what I needed. I feel
like I've been able to really reconnect with Ainsley, after being out of town so much of the past few weeks for work.
Just when I was finding it so hard to appreciate the positive because of constant worry about what may be, Ainsley shows
me once again that as long as she's making progress it doesn't matter what "all the other kids" are doing!
